rotary club

Ninety- Eight years of lending a helping hand to those in need. Showing kindness to people who rarely received it. That’s what Rotary club is doing. Rotary club has been around since June 25, 1909. Since it first started many people have join and left the Rotary club but most of the people who were in it at all learned a lesson. Rotary club has many mottos and lessons to be learned but one that stood out for me was “Service above self.” I think it means to help others, to put others above one self and to not be selfish. That’s really what Rotary club is about helping others. Another thing I think the Rotary club is about is to try and get people to leave their normal social circle and to meet new people and discuss their views while joined in a similar cause to improve a situation. It’s about preparing yourself for the future. Like a wise teacher once said “The person you make yourself when you’re younger is who you will stay when you’re older.” So if you make yourself who you want to be now and continue to stay that way soon it will be second nature you will help because that’s just what seems right. Not many people wonder what it is like to be in the shoes of the people who are sick, homeless or just in need f help the movie Pursuit of Happiness when it showed what he went through. Unlike the father in the movie most people who end up homeless are not as smart and do not have any reason to fight for a job so they are not nearly as lucky.People tend to only help their friends sometimes they won’t even help their neighbors. Which is why I think Rotary club is so helpful and good in general to the community. When you help someone in need you normally feel warm. As cheesy and adjective as that is to describe the feeling you have but it’s best I can describe it. Sometimes you also feel proud, happy, excited as well as inspired. If it’s so easy to feel happy and to do good why don’t more people do it? Because they are afraid that by helping they would have to sacrifice luxuries of their own. Their food, their home, their money or even their time and they aren’t willing to give that up.People in general think to help others they have to do something big and so must of the time it isn’t done at all but if everyone did something small, even as small as contributing one-two dollars, in the end it well most likely have a better end result than if one person contributed a lot. In fundraisers people rarely donate that much money people buy things that are cheap but because so many people contribute in the end it’s a huge over all value. If there re one hundred people at an event and they all donated two dollars it would take in more money than if one person donated one hundred dollars. Also the people who donated two dollars don’t feel as much pressure if they don’t HAVE to donate a lot that they don’t HAVE to even donate at all but they can because it would be helpful. Those are only some of the reasons why Rotary club can be helpful, and only some of the things that I think could be changed or should be changed to improve things.
