NUCLEAR ENERGY
Electricity, we all use it right? (Well except the Amish.) There are a lot of things in electricity but this essay I will talk about a certain ingredient that’s in electricity… nuclear energy. What is Nuclear Energy you ask?
Back in 1943 Enrico Fermi and Bohn discovered nuclear energy. Fermi was doing experiments in Rome and that’s why Nuclear energy was born.
It’s like a steam engine, except they don’t use coals.
According to www.dictionary.com nuclear energy is “energy released by reactions within atomic nuclei, as in nuclear fission or fusion.” I much think of it as, energy that is taken out by things that happen in the “nuclear fission”. Nuclear energy is also known as atomic energy. It is the energy released by the changes in the nucleus of atoms. Nuclear energy has many uses such as the production of electrical power, explosion of nuclear weapons and also used for the treatment of medical conditions. Most of the energy in atoms comes from the nucleus.
To make nuclear energy is like trying to transform water into wine. Just kidding it’s really something like this: To make Nuclear Energy is to make the nucleus let go of the energy kept inside. The energy released by the nucleus make large amounts of necit, the necit is used to make steam, and the steam can be used to generate electrical power. (I also think that steam is also evaporated into water. That way it makes us recycle water.) To make the energy there are nuclear reactors to produce and control the energy. The nuclear reactions are used kind of like a furnace but instead of burning fossil fuels. The reactor the uranium fissions, the nucleus is slit into two or more fragments as the nucleus slits it releases energy that is connected mostly into heat. The fission of one pound of uranium releases more, energy than the burning of 1,500 tons of coal. Nuclear reactions produce practices and that’s called nuclear tallation that have uses in medicine.
Nuclear energy helps is live everyday of our lives. I think they call it Nuclear energy because mainly the energy in atoms comes from inside the nucleus. And by now you must be probably thinking ‘wow nuclear energy is great’ but really like everything else it has some cons and pros. (benefits and drawbacks) some of the pros are: It helps us power our economy, in other words it helps us light up the whole U.S. It’s also the United States second largest source of energy like right after coal, so coal is the biggest source. Coals are “fossil fuels that’s natural place is made up of plants “made by deepness of water”. Now for the drawbacks, actually I think theirs more drawbacks then benefits on using nuclear power.
First, Nuclear waste, it’s called waste for a reason. Nuclear power wastes a lot of our energy. Did you know that “a fission of one pound of uranium releases more energy then the bunily of 1,500 tons of coal? Secondly, Nuclear weapons, weapons are weapons, have you ever heard of a ‘good weapon’. Weapons harm people or kill them, they don’t help you. Did you know that ONE single nuclear bomb could destroy a whole city, that’s very dangerous. Third, Reduction of oil, reduction is also a clue word for knowing it’s a bad thing obviously. We need oil more then anything, our cars, electricity and probably even food. And reducing oil doesn’t help at all. True Nuclear energy helps our whole economy and most importantly you. The reactions inside the nucleus make daily routines that are often called “Nuclear taliation,” and nuclear taliation is also found in medicine. In my opinion I think that not all states should have nuclear power plants because its just a waste of our taxes, did you know that its only 60% of the worlds energy source and 11% of a states source?
So its simply not necessary to have that many power plants if we don’t use them, we are trying to conserve energy not waste it and more now since people are opening wide to global warming. So if we did we would be making our planet even worse.
I also think that nuclear bombs should be stopped from being made! Like I said ‘one single bomb could destroy one whole city.’ It causes danger to innocent people even during war. Seriously we are not in the German Hitler era anymore. (Remember everything Hitler did in Germany was legal.) So next time you turn your light on say to yourself “nuclear energy helped me turn this on.”
